Steph and Dana at Embrace Doulas were an invaluable asset to my husband and I as we welcomed our son this past November. During pregnancy, Steph and Dana were there every step of the way. My son was breech and they were very supportive in helping me understand the spinning babies exercises and provided information so I could understand my options. He remained breech despite our greatest efforts and when a c section was decided on, Steph called me so we could go through all the details of what to expect, and how a doula could still support my husband and I through this type of birth. They helped us create a birth plan, within limits of the OR, that felt tailored to our needs and desires, and special. We are SO glad Steph was there with us through this experience. My son required extra attention in the OR by the NICU team and while I was on the table waiting for my baby to be brought to me for skin to skin for way too long, steph helped bridge the communication between the NICU team and my husband and I assuring us that everyone was calm, telling us the procedures being done, and reassuring us that things were under control and he would be over to us soon. That was such a pivotal point in his birth and when I look back, things could have gone the wrong direction emotionally if Steph wasn’t there to provide that expertise and reassurance. While my husband and baby went to the recovery room, Steph stayed with me and held my hand while we talked about what Christmas movies were best this year (*Hot Frosty*). I never thought I could feel so calm while having major abdominal surgery. In recovery it was decided my son needed to go to the NICU for monitoring. I insisted my husband go with our baby. This meant he could not come to mommy/baby with me. Steph stayed long beyond what was required of her to ensure a smooth transition for me into postpartum care and facilitated a transport for me to NICU (once allowed) so I could see my baby as soon as possible. Steph checked in regularly throughout our first few days with baby and again in the following weeks postpartum. When I say she was invaluable, I mean it. She kept my birth experience from going off the rails and supported my husband and I in ways we didn’t even know we needed. For that we are forever grateful ❤️. I highly recommend their care to new and experienced parents alike. I hired a postpartum doula because, despite my unwavering love for my month-old-baby, the weight of new parenthood had been heavy. I felt like my home, my head, and my rhythms were becoming increasingly disorganized as I cared for baby. Enter Betsy, my postpartum doula. Her care for me was so gentle, as she came alongside to meet whatever needs were on my list or my heart for the day. We meal prepped, learned baby-wearing techniques, acquainted me with my car seat, and organized baby clothes. And while we did these light chores, she listened. She met me in the feelings and worries of new motherhood, offering kind eyes, encouragement, and the sturdy hard-earned wisdom from raising her own littles. After two sessions together, we’ve inched our way toward better rhythms: my home is a little cleaner, my newborn is laying in her bassinet a little more, and we’re getting out the door a little faster. But even more significant—I feel stronger. I’m slowly growing a quiet confidence in my intuition, a closer tie to my own baby, and a small amount of resiliency when it all feels too much. Being cared for in this way has made me a better mother, and I’m forever grateful. I highly recommend Embrace’s postpartum services for any new parent. I had the pleasure of having Stephanie attend my birth and truly couldn’t have thanked her enough. She followed all of my cues without words needing to be told and created a safe space for me and my husband to work together. Even my husband was pleasantly surprised by how much she helped us both! Having an Embrace team member is worth their weight in gold. Invest in yourself, you won’t regret it! This review is long overdue -- I would strongly recommend Embrace Doulas to anyone looking for birthing support. If you've been debating having a doula, I say debate no further and call Embrace Doulas! Dana has been at two of my births -- one in 2020 and the second in 2023. At both, she provided the exact care and support I needed for those specific birthing experiences. At my second birth, it was evident that Dana's knowledge and confidence had only flourished since my first birth. I went without an epidural for both births, something I truly think I would not have been able to do without Dana's support. She made me feel confident in how things were progressing, and she has many tools and techniques that are empowering, calming and supportive. The support she provides throughout the pregnancy is not to be underestimated either. She takes into account your preferences and goals and can support you through whatever type of birthing experience you have. Dana is truly just a one-of-a-kind, genuine person. I imagine everyone on her team embodies these strengths as well. Thank you Dana and Embrace Doulas! Julie Nolan2024-11-12Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am so grateful to have found Dana and Embrace Doulas. We were fortunate enough to work with Dana herself, but she made sure we met and connected with another doula in her practice, Brittany, in the event that “backup” was needed. Thankfully it wasn’t, but I’m confident that we would have had just as positive an experience. Both came to the prenatal visit and we had a group text going from pretty soon after we decided to work together (far sooner than the standard 37 week timeframe that other doulas use for being available 24/7 for text/calling support!). From my experience and all the other people we interviewed, this is pretty unique to Embrace doulas. Dana is so highly competent and knowledgeable but is also very humble. We felt like we got the exact amount of support we needed for our labor and birth experience. I wanted as low-intervention as possible but also was pretty sure I’d be getting an epidural once I was not able to tolerate the contractions. With her guidance, I was able to labor at home until the contractions got the to the point of unbearable and once I arrived at the hospital learned I was 5.5 cm dilated. I would have gone to the hospital so much sooner (and would have been much more uncomfortable) without her guidance for laboring at home. Dana came to the hospital as soon as we asked her to, because we all were expecting that this labor would go fast since it was my second pregnancy. This did not turn out to be the case, and I wound up laboring Sunday night into Monday afternoon. Dana facilitated many different position changes to gently help the baby move into place while ensuring comfort for me as much as possible When I finally got to 10cm dilated, I realized that I was so physically and mentally spent and started to panic that I wouldn’t have enough energy to push. Dana encouraged me to take a nap, which was the right thing to do. After that final rest, I was able to push for about 30 minutes in (two different positions) to ultimately meet our son! With Dana’s support, I was able to have an epidural for pain management but still got to move and reposition constantly. She worked in perfect harmony with the hospital staff which contributed to me feeling super supported by everyone. Dana helped make our experience everything we hoped for and we’re forever grateful! As a first time mom moving to a new state & into new medical care at 30 weeks pregnant, there were a lot of unknowns and new things to navigate. When I reached out to Dana & she immediately responded with such care, I knew we were in great hands! We were paired with Polly & Steph for our delivery, who were completely invested & available from day 1! Throughout the remainder of my pregnancy, they checked on me often & offered so much encouragement. Anytime I had a question or needed advice, they were available to call me & offer their perspectives & encouragement. On delivery day, Polly was the most wonderful & calming presence. Her knowledge & expertise helped me move through hours of unmedicated labor with such peace & confidence. She encouraged me, prayed over me, and spoke so positively throughout the entire process. She partnered with my husband & mom to show them how to best help me. It made the process extra special for them as they were able to be so invested in the laboring. Polly’s motivation helped me feel empowered - I never once felt afraid or like I couldn’t do it. She helped the pain feel purposeful & manageable. It was truly the most amazing & beautiful experience delivering our beautiful boy! When my son was born, Polly ensured I was fed and well hydrated. I felt so taken care of & loved! I couldn’t have done it without her. When we were leaving L&D, my nurse said to me, “Your doula was amazing!” - you know that means a lot coming from someone who delivers babies every day! Embrace Doula group holds such a special place in our hearts & we couldn’t be more grateful for the role they played in our family. From the meet up through postpartum check-in, Dana and Steph instilled such an amazing level of comfort. Our experience had its twists and turns and through every challenged Dana championed for our hopes and birthing goals. She provided clear communication and expectations for both my wife and myself all while providing consistent encouragement. Dana not only provided coaching to my wife but also to me as a first time father, elevating my situational awareness that only an experienced doula could understand. I couldn't imagine delivering without a doula and I fully trust and admire the Embrace doula team. You know you made the right decision when, during our birth center's class they asked who our doulas were and they responded with, "if I had another baby, that's who I would use." Elizabeth Pinto2024-08-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I highly recommend these group of ladies. I knew from my first phone call with Dana that I had made the right decision of picking these ladies as my support system for my labor and delivery. I then met Victoria (my primary doula) and Brittany (secondary doula) and I was comfortable with both of them. I was nervous as a first time mom, had no idea what to expect. They both helped me throughout my pregnancy journey without judgment, respect, and excellent knowledge. When it came to the actual day of l&d, Victoria was there supporting myself and my husband. She made sure I was well cared for and comfortable. She knew exactly how to help especially as I had an added unrelated complication during the last part of pregnancy/l&d. Whenever someone asks about my birth experience I emphasize how fortunate and happy I was having my doulas. I always recommend Embrace. Thank you ladies again!
